   K-9 Tyson died as the result of heat exhaustion he suffered while tracking subjects the previous day who were wanted for armed robbery of a pharmacy in Danville, Illinois.

   The vehicle the suspects were traveling in was stopped on Interstate 74 east of the Wabash River near Covington when the subjects fled south on foot. K-9 Tyson showed signs of heat exhaustion due to the high temperatures and humidity.

   He was taken to a local veterinary clinic for observation where he passed away the following day.

   All three male suspects that K-9 Tyson was tracking were apprehended two hours later and extradited to Illinois.

   K-9 Tyson, 5-year-old male Belgian Malinois, had served with the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department for 4½ years.
