K-9 Rambo died after his handler failed to remove him from the squad car at his residence in the 1300 block of Albany Street following their shift.

When his handler came home, neighborhood children were playing in his front yard. As K-9 Rambo may have become excited, he decided to leave his partner inside the locked squad car in the driveway and remove him later.

However, his handler did not return until 11:00 am the following morning when he found K-9 Rambo unresponsive. Despite resuscitative efforts, K-9 Rambo had died from heat exhaustion.

K-9 Rambo, a 2½-year-old male German Shepherd, had served with the Beech Grove Police Department for one year.
